What sets NJSDA apart from other acting / performing arts schools?

Our outstanding staff of professional teaching artists provides the most comprehensive performing / theater arts education program in Northern New Jersey. We offer over 40 different classes in Acting, Musical Theater, Improv and TV & Film.

The exceptional depth of our multi-level programming means that students are matched to their experience or current ability.

Our students have bountiful performance opportunities! Three improv troupes, Class Acts: our yearly production of one-act plays, the Black Box Theater Project: our annual production of a full length play at our NJSDA Theater, frequent casting requests from commercial, film and theater companies, our program with Montclair State University’s BFA Film Department and our own scene night projects provide outlets for students at all levels.

Thus the benefits for our students are tremendous. Not only do they receive the highest quality acting / theater education; but because they are in the midst of professional opportunities, students will gain an even deeper education and understanding of what it takes to build a career in the dramatic arts.
